CTaSC specializes in ceramic tile and stone consulting in North America. We are a professional company of expert consultants comprised of accomplished ceramic tile and stone installers, construction scientists, and other industry specialists located throughout North America. CTaSC provides Forensic Failure Investigations (Expert Witness) and Inspections, Quality Control Services for Product and Installation Methods, Training Programs (Sales and Installation), Market Research and Outsourcing Services, and Business Planning Consulting to the Ceramic Tile and Stone Industry. Founded and operated by Donato Pompo CTC CMR CSI CDT MBA.
Out of high school Donato Pompo worked as an installer's helper for a Los Angeles based Union Tile Contractor. Donato then joined the army and was an MP and paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division. After the army, Donato went to college and earned a full scholarship at UCSD Revelle College in La Jolla, CA where he majored in Biochemistry.
After working as an importer and distributor for 17 years, Donato went back to school to earn an MBA degree with an emphasis in both Marketing and Finance at the University of Phoenix. During the 17 years as a distributor Donato worked his way up to an Executive VP position in the family business, Southwestern Ceramic Tile and Marble Co. in San Diego, CA. There he ran the operations and sales divisions of the large ceramic tile and stone distribution company. Following that experience, Donato joined Laticrete International, a global manufacturer of installation systems for ceramic tile and stone, and worked for Laticrete for over 7 years as a sales manager. Donato had extensive experience at Laticrete conducting presentations for sales, marketing, and training. In addition, Donato was significantly involved in investigating and resolving job problems. Donato is certified as a Ceramic Tile Consultant (CTC) and is the past chairman of the CTIOA Technical Committee, and he is a member of the ANSI and TCA standards committees. Donato is a Council-certified Microbial Remediator (CMR), Donato is an architectural CSI member and is certified as a Construction Document Technologist (CDT). Donato is a member of the Forensic Consultants Association (FCA). Donato is a past board member of the Ceramic Tile Distributor Association CTDA and was one of the founding members of the Club’84 Ceramic Tile Action Group. Donato was responsible for creating and writing the TileWise Education Cartoons that have been published throughout the industry. Donato is a primary contributing writer and researcher for the Catalina Stone Industry Report, and is a frequent author and speaker for the ceramic tile and stone industries.
Donato is an active member of ANSI A108 American National Standard Specifications committee, APSP Association of Pool & SPA Professionals, CSI (Construction Specifications Institute) member, ASTM C18 Dimension Stone committee, CTDA (Ceramic Tile Distributors Association) member and Chairman of the CTDA Education Committee, CTIOA (Ceramic Tile Institute of American) member and is the past Chairman of the CTIOA Technical Committee, FCA Forensic Consultants Association member, FCI Floor Covering Institute member, FEWA Forensic Expert Witness Association, IAPMO Uniform Plumbing Code member, IAQA (Indoor Air Quality Association) member, ISO TC189 committee, MIA (Marble Institute of America) member, NTCA (National Tile Contractors Association) member and a member of the NTCA Technical Committee, a NTCA Recognized Consultant, particpant in the TCNA Tile Council of North America Handbook committee, Tile Heritage Foundation member, and WSCTA (Western States Ceramic Tile Association) member.
CTaSC is a National Tile Contractors Association (NTCA) Recognized Consultant. NTCA is the largest tile installer association in the ceramic tile and stone industry, and they are extensively involved in developing industry standards through the ANSI A108 committee, the Tile Council of North America TCA Handbook for Ceramic Tile Installation committee, and their own NTCA Technical Committee. NTCA recognizes CTaSC as a professional consultant for the ceramic tile and stone industries and recommends CTaSC for those needing inspections, investigations, expert witness services, and other consulting services.
CTaSC is also referred for inspections, investigations, expert witness services, and other consulting services by Tile Council of North America (TCNA), Marble Institute of America (MIA), Ceramic Tile Distributors Association (CTDA), and other industry organizations. CTaSC experts are ceramic tile experts, granite experts, marble experts, limestone experts, slate experts, travertine experts, sandstone experts and other types of stone experts.
