Is it ok to butt a wood floor tight to a marble tile insert?

QUESTION

Will you be so kind and help me with this matter I installed a wood floor with marble inlays I have joints of 1/8” between the two surfaces but owners didn’t want no joints at all tight 0”space please can you help me with this problem.

ANSWER

There should be a 1/8" joint between the wood and marble.  It would be best to caulk that joint as there is likely to be movement.   If you don't have a joint then when the wood and/or marble expands it could cause problems.

  1. mario games says:

A 1/8″ gap should exist between the wood and marble. This joint should be caulked because there is likely to be movement. In the absence of a joint, the expansion of wood and/or marble could pose complications.
